Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon of the Colorado River is one of my absolute favorite places. I have so many Grand Canyon stories, I hardly know where to begin...so I haven't actually written anything at all, yet. Still, it's a shame to let that be a reason for holding back some of the wonderful pictures I've gotten...so, here are a few.

As you stand at the head of Bright Angel trail, the primary nine-mile path to the Colorado River's edge, you can actually see the trail winding its way down. The patch of greenery in the middle of the shot, through which the trail wanders, is Indian Gardens, halfway to the river.

Life on South Rim is harsh, what with the extreme change of temperatures from summer to winter, and the constant wind and exposure. Here's a little feller that looks like it lost the fight.

As you descend Bright Angel trail, dodging mule droppings and keeping out of the way of the mules that dropped them, try to remember to look up now and then. You can always wipe off your hiking boots, later.
